Our Maran Cuivree hens are also known as: Copper Maran/ Burford Brown/ Suffolk Noir/ Starlight/ Devon Bronze
Maran Cuivree hens have a glossy black body, and many are adorned with beautiful copper chest feathers. They lay fantastic dark brown eggs so you can always identify which are hers! They are beautiful hens, and can be similar in appearance to the Rhode Rock. The most apparent difference in appearance between these two breeds is the appearance of their legs- a Maran will have dark silver-blue legs which are feathered, and the Rhode Rock will have pale yellow legs. The amount of copper markings will vary from hen to hen within the breed but often they have beautiful lacing on their feathers and a purple or green iridescent sheen across their backs.
Maran Cuivree hybrids will reward their owners with approximately 260-280 lovely dark brown eggs per year. Our fully vaccinated Devon Bronze or French Copper Marans hens can be reserved now for 2024 collection via Chickens To Your Door- just select Martins Wood Farm as your pick up point and choose "Paula @ Martins Wood Farm" as where you heard about them.
