​Our Black Sussex hens are also known as: Pied Sussex/ Silver Sussex/ Sussex Reverse/ Daisybelle/ Medicis/ Magpie

​The markings on the Black Sussex are almost the reverse of the Light Sussex. These ladies traditionally have beautiful black plumage with white feathers around the neck and hackles. The markings differ for each hen within this breed, with some appearing almost all black and others having contrasting silvery white laced feathers down their chest and onto their wings. The black feathers on this breed often have a beautiful green sheen in the sunlight, making them a stunning addition to any flock. They are very elegant large hens with a docile nature.

Black Sussex hybrids will lay between 260-280 beautiful brown eggs per year.
